Shyre May is the Founder of Krate - A Creative Space and Cafe which focuses on the performing arts community based in Melaka, Malaysia.
With a decade of experience in the local art industry, Shyre May has written, produced and directed and acted many original plays and commercials and independent films.
Her love for creating has led her to meeting many like-minded individuals and building a sustainable community via workshops through creative education and her signature immersive and interactive theatre shows.

- Krate Creative Space is Melaka's first ever independent theater company that creates original productions focusing on immersive and interactive experience.
- 2024: Showcased "The Great Gossip" an immersive and interactive show at Melaka's own "Crazy Rich Asians" of Millionaire's Row (Heeren Street)! 19 shows sold out in less than 2 weeks.
- 2023: Featured on the The Star Newspaper for Melaka First Immersive Theater Experience “Case of the Missing Diamonds” A mystery thriller that allows audiences to follow as the story unfolds at the Baba Nyonya Museum. 10 shows sold out in 4 days.
- 2022: Showcased “The Best Nyonya” An Interactive Musical for My Creative Ventures for RIUH Festival. Over 2000 engaged and named best in encompassing all cultural elements, cross-generational and multi-racial participations.

As the first independent theater company in Melaka, I strive to create meaningful stage performances.
Using multidisciplinary concept such as technology and even puppetry , we work with collaborators to create a variety of unique shows.
The Case of the Missing Diamond, Evenings at the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum (2023) was Melaka's first Walk-through Theater Experience. In collaboration with Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum & Persatuan Peranakan Baba Nyonya Malaysia. We had a total of 14 shows of which all was SOLD OUT within 4 days.
We were also featured The Star Newspaper
The Best Nyonya (2022), is an interactive musical for an outdoor theater. With over 2000 audiences, our show was performed in Melaka as well as in Kuala Lumpur. More information here
Detective Renage, Case of the Curious Tapes (2019), is an interactive murder mystery that brings you to the eyes of the very Detective that is solving the case. Set in the London during the 1980s, follow the journey of Inspector Charles Renage and Detective James Cooper.
Tipsy Tales (2019) - A series of 6 short stories and skits. This 18+ theater production is an interactive performance that involves tales of individuals affected by alcohol.
THE ADVENTURES OF CORALINE LIVE ADAPTATION (2019)
Inspired and based of 2009 Coraline, the animated movie, this production was for a charity for the National Cancer Society of Malasya- Melaka in collaboration with HATTEN GROUP SDN BHD.
A combination of UV lights and puppets as well as prerecorded filming were used to create the magic we saw on screen to life on stage.

Linker is a Sci-fi action series that revolves around Linkers who has telepathic abilities which allows them to connect into the minds of one another using similar frequency of the brain waves.

I am very inspired by the tales of my ancestors, namely the unique Baba Nyonya Culture. Most of my short films are related to the stories of the past. I feel it is important to shed light to the world that we used to live in for us to learn, to appreciate and to grow.
